Tutoring Review
Xu is a student in the Finance (bilingual) class of a 985 university in Sichuan. When I first met Xu, like all students from 985 universities, he was attracted by the more abundant research and educational resources abroad. With the aim of broadening his horizons and experiencing the joy of looking at problems from the other side of the ocean brought by the integration of different cultures, he had the idea of pursuing a postgraduate degree abroad very early on.
As the outbreak of the epidemic continues, students have determined their application directions to be Hong Kong and Singapore. Their major is Finance, and the scores of some core courses in the undergraduate program are relatively low. When choosing a plan, they also focus on matching the Finance major. The course module matching degree is high, avoiding the problem of graduation risk due to excessive study pressure for students. The final school positioning includes National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Studying at a 985 university, students have relatively abundant information about extracurricular activities and internship programs on campus. When consulting agencies in the second semester of their junior year, students have a relatively rich background in software. Analyzing from the transcript, the student's GPA of 3.2 is relatively low. The main problem occurred before the final exams of the second semester of the sophomore year when the student was absent from two courses due to health reasons. Although make-up exams were held later, it also lowered the overall GPA. In response to this situation, we suggest that the student prepare an explanation of the absence and submit it to the school through notarization, and also make an explanation in the PS section. At the same time, during the student's preparation for the GMAT, it was found that the student had certain shortcomings in logical thinking. It was promptly suggested that the student give up the GMAT and adjust to study and score the GRE. Eventually, the first GRE score of 327 was submitted to the school for application review.
After receiving the interview invitation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, we immediately integrated the previous interview cases of the Finance major at the university and provided interview guidance to the students. The school adopted a group interview format, and during the interview guidance, we also communicated with the students about the precautions of the group interview format. The theme of this interview discussion was "The Development Trend of Internet Finance under the New Form" Based on the student's extracurricular internship experience, I had a good interaction with the interviewer. Three days after the interview, I received the school's recommendation for postgraduate study.
The programs that the student has currently been admitted to include MSc Finance at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, MSc Finance at City University of Hong Kong, and Master of Finance (Investment Management) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
