Background

Co-founder of Yisibole International Education, a leading figure in the field of studying abroad;

Graduated from Sichuan University, and then was exceptionally admitted to a Fortune 500 American company to engage in global project management work.

Over the years since entering the overseas study industry, I have been adept at building platforms suitable for students to enhance their abilities and academic performance.

I firmly believe that studying abroad is not only about helping students get admitted to schools, but more importantly, it is about helping students find their suitable goals during the application process, enhancing their comprehensive abilities, and providing professional and systematic services for students and their entire families throughout the study abroad application process.

Having handled the study abroad applications of hundreds of students, I am good at summarizing and constantly exploring. I am determined to build an international-level platform for students to strive for their dream schools, grow together with them, and use my own energy to influence those around me.

Student Xiang is from the Communication Engineering major of Chengdu University of Information Technology. He has always been an outstanding student in his class during his school years.

Xiang, a student with a strong thirst for knowledge, had already identified his interest in programming before coming into contact with us at explore. He had gained a preliminary understanding of game development, data mining, and computer algorithms, and was particularly eager to study computer-related majors in the United States.

A master's degree in computer science in the United States can be said to be a difficult major for international students to apply for in recent years. Xiang, a student, is well aware of the fierce competition and the limitations of his own university platform, so he has been very active in discussing with us solutions to expand his own platform and enhance his computer application skills.

After a meticulous assessment by the explore academic team, it is first necessary to make up for Xiang's computer professional knowledge and application ability.

Since he is not a computer science major, how can he compete with students from 985 universities and overseas undergraduate programs in the army of applicants for a master's degree in computer science in the United States? First of all, he needs to accumulate a solid foundation and application ability in computer programming. At the beginning, Xiang's understanding of the entire field of computer science was still not very clear.

To effectively assist Xiang, the explore team first matched him with Leo, a computer science academic mentor.

Under Leo's guidance, Xiang, a student, went one-on-one from scratch for about eight months and produced an EI conference paper related to computer data mining. Xiang, as the first author, participated in this EI conference and delivered a speech. (CS Background Enhancement: Special Application Season, How to Secure the offer You Desire)

During this process, Xiang gained a very intuitive understanding of computer algorithms, data mining and machine learning. More importantly, I have learned how to suggest research ideas to think about and solve problems, and which tools can be utilized to assist myself.

Because the thesis was written entirely in English, it also had a promoting effect on Xiang's TOEFL and GRE exams, especially the AW section of the GRE.

During this process, we found that Xiang's ability to write code and his hands-on skills are actually quite good. Leo's supervisor also highly recognizes Xiang's research capabilities and is willing to write a recommendation letter for him as an application material for American schools.

Taking advantage of the momentum, on the premise that Xiang's academic ability in computer science has significantly improved, the academic team also connected him with Professor Kamme from the United States as a group member to start the research and study of two papers under the professor's guidance. After another eight months of online classes and communication with the professor, through group division of labor for research experiments, and finally the production of the papers.

Throughout the entire process, Xiang managed to balance his academic studies with his efforts to improve his TOEFL and GRE scores. He made significant contributions to the group and, as the sole author, produced the final paper, which was published in an international journal.

While Xiang's computer skills and academic research capabilities have been continuously improving, his TOEFL score has finally reached 104, his GRE score has reached 324+4.0, and his average academic score at school is 89.

With the hardware that Xiang applied for constantly improving and his soft power already taking shape, the explore academic team also arranged for him to intern at the R&D position of Chengdu Fengchuang Technology Company, a local enterprise in Chengdu.

The main job responsibilities

1) Information crawler: Use python to crawl network security-related information from various information websites (Baidu, Sogou,360, etc.).

2) Data storage, analysis and display: Parse encrypted HTTP response data and store it in an es database. Develop a Web server using the Django framework and display the analysis results.

The company has provided feedback that Xiang has relatively mature technical capabilities and can complete the corresponding tasks well at work.

Tips

Here's a little story to share with everyone: Before starting an internship at a company, an interview is required. The explore team specially provided training to Xiang before the interview, detailing what kind of clothes to wear appropriately during the interview.

Student Xiang specially went to purchase business casual wear. He wore relatively formal trousers and shirts at one time. During the purchasing process, he also sent photos of the clothes and trousers to the explore teacher for reference. Every time I think of these details, I feel gratified for the growth of each student.

In this way, the eager-to-learn Xiang student has grown up together with explore. His college life is filled with academic expansion and challenges, constantly improving his comprehensive computer skills.

Finally, during the pandemic, I defeated many competitors and was admitted to the MS in CS-Scientists and Engineers program at the prestigious University of Southern California in the United States.

From Chengdu University of Information Technology to the University of Southern California, we all aim for our beloved goals. We can all be Xiang, or we can follow his teacher's lead and move towards our dream schools. I believe we can turn the tables against the odds and soar into the future together!
