The financial dream from the Netherlands to the UK
All along, I have had a firm dream of studying abroad.
Studying abroad enables one to receive a better education. Moreover, taught master's programs in foreign countries take less time, which is more time-saving compared to the two or three years in China, allowing for earlier graduation and the accumulation of work experience.
In addition, as of now, a master's degree from abroad is relatively more valuable and can be of greater help for future job hunting. At the same time, one can also get to know classmates and teachers from different countries, experience the collision of different cultural atmospheres, enrich life experiences and broaden horizons.
Therefore, I had already determined my intention to study abroad as early as the beginning of my sophomore year.
At first, I planned to study finance in the Netherlands because my average score in my freshman year was not high, and it was not competitive to go to places like the UK and the US. However, the competition on the European continent was relatively less intense, and I could apply to better schools.
Later, as my academic performance improved and my background enriched, I gradually developed the idea of applying to the UK.
2. First Encounter with Yisi Bole
I remember comparing a total of eight study abroad agencies at that time (maybe a bit too many, hahahaha). Because when I signed up for the IELTS class before, I didn't compare carefully and only referred to one, which led to being cheated. So I was very cautious when choosing a study abroad agency. After all, it will accompany me for several years.
At that time, I referred to many institutions but couldn't find a satisfactory one. Later, by chance, I learned about Yisi Boluo.
At first, I got in touch with Teacher Zeng. After Teacher Zeng's professional and patient explanation, I was determined to choose Yisi Boluo in my heart.
After discussing with my family during the summer vacation, I finally decided to go to Yisibole.
During the nearly three years of contact that followed, it gradually proved that my choice was correct. Every teacher was very conscientious and responsible, and they were all doing their best to help me improve my average score and soft memorization. Eventually, I got the offer I desired and did not let down our joint efforts.
3. Set clear goals and forge ahead with determination
The positioning of the institutions and majors was handled by Teacher Chen. At that time, a total of five schools were selected, namely UCL, the University of Manchester, the University of Edinburgh, KCL and the University of Bristol. Among them, UCL was the designated target school.
I chose finance as my major, but my math grades were not high. Considering this, Teacher Chen selected majors that did not have high requirements for math foundations to ensure that my subsequent master's courses could proceed smoothly. Coincidentally, I also chose the banking direction, which I quite like.
Later, as the epidemic became increasingly severe abroad, I applied to more Australian universities, adding the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne, and also chose the finance direction. Later, due to my own IELTS score issue, I had no choice but to change the University of Manchester to Durham University.
The following was a two-year planning process. I signed with Yisi Boluo in my sophomore year. After that, Teacher Ma tailored a series of plans for me - whether it was improving average scores, standardized tests, course selection for the semester, extracurricular experiences, or even offline internships. Teacher Ma covered all aspects and made detailed plans for me.
With the encouragement and assistance of my teachers, my average score steadily increased to 85 points, and I also made considerable progress in other soft background aspects.
It is precisely because of this that we have shifted our application targets to the top 50 universities in the UK and Australia, and have received decent offers.
So, based on my personal experience, I would like to suggest to all my younger schoolmates that the earlier you decide to study abroad, the better. Only by making adequate preparations in advance can you have enough time to improve yourself and thus help yourself get a better offer.
4. A pleasant and cooperative application journey
Compared with some of my classmates' institutions where it takes over a month to write a document and the results are not satisfactory, Teacher Yang from Yisiboluo is very efficient in writing documents. Generally, they can be sent to my email within two days.
Moreover, at such a rapid pace, it still maintains a high-quality standard, with different contents for different schools and different majors.
The writing of application documents requires the joint efforts of students and teachers to achieve good results, and the content involved in the documents also needs the students' own genuine thoughts.
Teacher Yang's guidance on my application materials was very helpful. For instance, before filling out the application document material form, I had no idea which experiences would be helpful for the application. Just like participating in the College Students' Challenge Cup, at first I thought that only by winning an award could it be included in the CV and PS. Later, after in-depth exploration with Teacher Yang, I found that there were many materials that could be written in.
In addition, Teacher Yang also asked me to search for the major I wanted to apply for on the school's official website and express my true opinions based on different course Settings. This made my application essay very relevant to the school and major I was applying for.
One more thing about Yisi Boluo that makes me feel very at ease is that the school account and application email were all sent to me by the teachers after the application was completed. This means that we can see all the emails sent by the school at the same time, achieving information openness and transparency.
Moreover, as soon as the teachers receive the email, they will check it immediately and inform me of the new progress in a timely manner. From many small details, I can feel the teachers' concern for me, and it also makes me know that I am not fighting alone.
5. Summary
Looking back on my journey of applying for a study abroad program, even though I had determined my intention to study abroad at the beginning of my sophomore year, not everything went smoothly.
In this special application season, I have encountered unprecedented challenges.
At that time, due to the pandemic, the IELTS and GMAT exams were frequently cancelled, and the release of scores was repeatedly delayed. Without standardized scores, my roommate was rejected by KCL with an average score of 88, which also added tremendous pressure to me invisibly.
During this period, I had many emotional breakdowns and wanted to give up the exam. Even though my parents were far away, they were extremely anxious about me. Fortunately, the teachers of Yisi Boluo, from a professional perspective, helped us solve problems and accompanied me through that difficult time.
Facts have proved that don't give up easily. Victory will eventually come.
At present, I have received offers from KCL, the University of Bristol and the University of Sydney without any hesitation. These are all unexpected surprises for me, and I am looking forward to even better results in the future.
I think choosing Yisi Boluo on my study abroad journey was the right decision I have ever made.
I hope all my younger schoolmates can have this good fortune, find the right institution, become teammates fighting side by side, and walk towards victory together!
