Guan is one of the students who left a deep impression on me during my study abroad career. When I first met her, she was a sophomore majoring in Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering at Sichuan University. She had almost no knowledge about studying abroad and only knew that she needed to prepare for the IELTS, so she took an IELTS test by herself. Students hope to learn about the relevant preparations and procedures through study abroad consultation, and then communicate with their parents to obtain their support. At the same time, she also informed me of some of her family's understandings about studying abroad. None of her relatives or friends have ever chosen to study abroad. For her parents, a communication about studying abroad might be shocking or hard to accept for a while. Seeing that this child hoped to become more determined in her belief, I decided to have detailed communication with her parents respectively. Not only did I hope to have a better understanding of the student, but also to enable her parents to have a deeper understanding of studying abroad. I hope to eventually help this girl from Guizhou reach a broader platform to fulfill her dream and bring an even more boundless future to herself and her family. After many communications with the students and their parents, we finally gained the support of the parents. After all, making the children better is also our common goal.
After two years of planning for both software and hardware, Guan's academic performance in all aspects has steadily improved. At the same time, she has also strived to win various awards related to the school and her major. During winter and summer vacations, she did internships related to her applied major. I chose the application plans of the G5 universities, namely University College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Bristol, the University of Glasgow and the University of Sheffield. Later, I was admitted to all of them. Meanwhile, Guan also took the postgraduate entrance examination in China and was eventually admitted to Lanzhou University, a 985/211 university. She has reaped rich rewards from both domestic and international postgraduate admissions!
