Tutoring Review
Student Li is a student majoring in Biomedical Engineering at a 985 university. When I first met her, I found that she had no interest in her major at all and wanted to apply for a master's degree in computer science across disciplines. Because the student's major courses involve some computer courses, but the value is average compared with that of computer undergraduate students, they lack confidence. The student found Explore, hoping that we could help her enhance her competitiveness and successfully apply for a major change.
The main difficulty in the planning process is to switch majors and apply for computer science programs mainly in the United States. To make up for the lack of value in Li's computer-related courses, we have connected with the one-on-one EI conference paper project of Leo, the computer academic mentor of explore. When the student first came into contact with this kind of practical scientific research, they were completely at a loss at the beginning. After countless communications and guidance with Leo's supervisor, they gradually confirmed the research topic, learned the research methods, and eventually collected data step by step and conducted repeated experiments, producing a paper as the first author. This process enabled students to have a deeper understanding of the overall context of computers and enhanced their application abilities in both computer hardware and software. At the same time, due to the practice of writing English papers, my TOEFL and GRE scores are both above 110+ and 330+ respectively.
Student Li was eventually admitted to the CE program at New York University in the United States and the SE program at Irvine, California, successfully changing majors. At the same time, he also received an admission to his dream school, UBC, in the same major.
